 S.M.A.R.T. Choices for Success

The motley crew at Media Magic are still on spring break, so this week we will continue to share more inspirational insights from Deepak Chopra’s Success is Wholeness program. Last week the program asked participants to contemplate the concept that success is not some distant external goal. Instead we were asked to rethink the traditional perspective of what success means and begin to perceive success as something we live and breathe every day, in all that we do, rather than a goal we are striving to achieve.

This week’s blogs take a look at how success can sprout from embracing dynamic new choices that are not solely bound by old habits and belief systems. By exploring the acronym S-M-A-R-T (as outlined below) we can learn how SMART choices will help us align with successful actions.

S – Stretch more than you can reach
M – Make everything measurable
A – Agreement with your inner self and those around you
R – Record your progress
T – Time limits for acting and getting a result

Today we begin the week by taking a closer look at the letter S which asks us to “stretch more than we can reach.” This requires us to not only be open to new ideas, approaches, and practices, but that we must also be willing to explore and try these concepts out. By stretching more than we have ever done before, we are required to reach further beyond our comfort zones. When we release our fears of the unknown, and instead choose to embrace our natural curiosity about the world, our desires can take us beyond the limitations of our present knowledge and experience. By practicing this mental stretching strategy, we inherently condition our minds to make smarter more effective choices, in any circumstance that arises. It works the same way that stretching does to prepare muscles for a workout.

On Wednesday our discussion will take a closer look at the letters M and A and the role they play in helping us live more positive, productive lives filled with success and abundance. Until then … keep  organized!
