How Beliefs Shape Our Identities
Many great philosophers propose that human beings become what they believe. In other words, a person’s beliefs helps shape their identities as well as what they feel to be true about themselves. In many cases, however, people aren’t sure what their beliefs are, because many are hidden and unconscious; or they change as a result of their life experiences.

As a medical practioner, Dr. Chopra (2013) suggests that even though beliefs people hold about themselves may be either mild mannered or extremely passionate, those beliefs still contribute to who we they are and the individual they evolve into. He further states that people who become more self-aware, are naturally more mindful individuals. As a result, their choices and actions are made with a greater clarity because they comprehend how their beliefs helped them to evolve and form their identities (Chopra, 2013). To sum up, in order to truly understand ourselves, we should examine our beliefs more closely throught the lens of self-awareness.
